Enlightening is our Language : That's the reason why we are here - to try to make SASL easily remembered & recognised, and have it become our 12th official language. As Deaf people, we need to be part of the growing/ developing society. How? Through using South African Sign Language as our communicating tool.
Services
Online Training
Thibologa Sign Language Institute is dedicated to improving communication between the Deaf community and the hearing community. In an effort to support this, the have invested a lot of time and effort into providing top quality training courses in South African Sign Language. Both Deaf and hearing students will benefit greatly from the utilisation of the latest technologies (such as the Internet and Video) to learn SASL.
The Basic SASL Course is geared towards providing students with an introduction to SASL. The course will cover the following modules:
- Introduction
- The Alphabet
- Cardinal and Ordinal Numbers
- Introducing yourself - a basic signed conversation
- English vs Sign Language Structure
- Pronouns
- Time Indicators
- Days, months and seasons
- Comperhensive Self-test
The program runs for six months and there is no evaluation test.

Interpretation Services
We can provide online interpretation services where the material to be interpreted can be exchanged via the Web, email or other electronic means.
We can for example provide you with the SASL interpretation of a specific document, video or audio file. We can also turn a South African Sign Language video into a English transcript or onto subtitles.
